Nasonex Nasonex nasal spray prevents and relieves the runny, stuffy nose that accompanies hay fever and year-round allergies. It contains a steroid medication that fights inflammation. Mometasone is a steroid. It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.

Drug Uses Nasonex is a nasal allergy spray that treats symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergy. It is used for relief of itchy, runny noses, sneezing and congestion caused by dust mites, pet dander and tree and grass pollen. Nasonex is a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory properties. Corticosteroids have various effects on numerous cell types. How Taken Nasonex should be shaken very well before usage. You should prime the spray pump as your pharmacist has instructed you. The common dosage is two spays in each nostril per day. Do not use the medicine more often or for a longer period of time than your doctor prescribed. Nasonex should be used regularly during the treatment for best results. You should start the treatment 2-4 weeks before the season if you use the medicine for seasonal allergy. The symptoms may improve within 2 days and you may gain full benefit after 1-2 weeks of use. Warnings/Precautions Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you have a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection of any kind. The absorption of the medicine in the body can reduce the ability to fight off infections. You may not be able to take Nasonex if you suffer from an infection. Before you use the medicine you should inform your doctor if you have a nasal septum ulcer, recently had nasal surgery, or nasal damage. You may not been able to use Lamisil or your dosage may have to be adjusted, or you may have to be monitored during the treatment. Nasonex falls into the FDA category C which means that it is not clear if is harmful for a fetus. Talk to your doctor before using Nasonex in case you are pregnant. Also, consult your doctor before taking the medicine if you are breast feeding because it is not known if Nasonex passes into breast milk. Nasonex is not approved fro usage by children younger than 3 years of age. Missed Dose In case you miss a dose, take the missed tablet as soon as you remember. However, if it is already time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and take the regular dose. Do not take a double dose to catch up the missed one. Possible Side Effects Nasonex may cause headache or sore throat. Contact your doctor as soon as possible if these side effects continue or worsen. Some rare adverse effects may also occur. Inform your doctor in case you experience vision changes, unusual nasal bleeding or irritation/pain, blood-tinged mucus/phlegm, unusual increase in thirst or urination, nausea, weakness, weight loss. If you develop an allergic reaction to Nasonex, immediately search for medical help. An allergic reaction may be indicated by rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. Consult your doctor if you notice any other side effects that are not listed in this leaflet. Storage Nasonex should be stored at a temperature of 25°C (77°F); fluctuations allowed to 15-30°C (59-86°F). Keep the medicine away from light. Avoid long exposure of the product to direct light after Nasonex Nasal Spray 50 mcg is removed from its cardboard container. Overdose An overdose of Nasonex is very unlikely. However, if you suspect an overdose, search for medical care. More Information Avoid contact with items that are allergens if they worsen your symptoms. You should clean areas where dust or pet fur gathers. Do not expose yourself to known sources of infection. Avoid contact with people infected with chicken pox, measles or other infectious diseases. During a treatment with Nasonex your immune system may not be strong enough to fight off infections.
