Drug Uses

Naprosyn is a medicine used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, juvenile arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendonitis and bursitis, and acute gout. The medicine may also be used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to treat primary dysmenorrhea. Naprosyn Suspension is indicated for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in order to get maximum flexibility of the dosage depending on the weight of the patient.

How Taken

Naprosyn is available in the form of a normal tablet, a tablet with extended release or liquid. The medicine should be taken orally. It should be taken twice a day for treatment of arthritis, one extended-release tablet every 8 hours for treatment of gout and one normal tablet every 6-8 hours for pain. You may take Naprosyn with food or milk to avoid stomach problems.

Warnings/Precautions

Inform your doctor before taking Naprosyn if you have an allergy to aspirin or any other NSAIDs, have an ulcer or bleeding in your stomach, drink more than three alcoholic beverages a day, have liver disease, have kidney disease, have a coagulation (bleeding) disorder, have congestive heart failure, have fluid retention, have heart disease, or have high blood pressure. Other less serious adverse effects may occur. Consult your doctor but do not stop using Naprosyn if you have: dizziness or headache; nausea, diarrhea, or constipation; depression; fatigue or weakness; dry mouth; or irregular menstrual periods. Storage

Naprosyn suspension should be stored at a room temperature, away from heat above 40°C (104°F). Keep the medicine in a light-resistant container. Naprosyn tablets should be stored at a room temperature, in a tightly-closed and light-resistant container.

Overdose
