Levitra is a medicine indicated to treat erectile dysfunction.

How Taken

Levitra is available in the form of tablets that should be taken orally. The medicine should be taken when needed about 1 hour before a sexual intercourse. You need some kind of sexual stimulation for occurrence of an erection with the medicine. The daily dosage of the medicine should not exceed one tablet which may be taken with or without food.

Warnings/Precautions

Before using Levitra you should inform your doctor if you have or have ever had a heart attack, stroke, irregular heartbeats, angina (chest pain), or congestive heart failure; high or low blood pressure; if you have a personal or family history of a rare heart condition known as prolongation of the QT interval (long QT syndrome); liver problems or kidney problems; have ever had blood problems, including sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia; have a bleeding or blood clotting disorder; have a stomach ulcer; a family history of degenerative eye disease (e.g., retinitis pigmentosa); or if you have a physical deformity of the penis such as Peyronie's disease. If you suffer from any of the above-mentioned conditions, you may not been able to use Levitra or your dosage may have to be adjusted, or you may have to be monitored during the treatment. Levitra is not indicated to be used by women, this medicine falls into the FDA pregnancy category B which means it is not expected to harm a fetus. However, it is not clear if Levitra passes into breast milk. Women should not use Levitra. Patients older than 65 years of age are more likely to experience adverse effects from the medicine. Their dosage may have to be reduced.

Missed Dose

It is unlikely to miss a dose because Levitra is taken only when needed.

Possible Side Effects

The most common side effects caused by Levitra include:
-Headaches
-Flushing
-Stuffy or runny nose
In very rare cases Levitra may cause an erection that do not disappear (priapism). If your erection continues longer than 4 hours you should get medical help immediately. Priaprism should be treated as soon as possible because it may result in damage of the penis, including an inability to have erections. You may also experience vision changes like seeing a blue tinge to objects or not recognizing the blue from green. Not all side effects of Levitra are listed in this leaflet. Storage

Levitra should be stored at a temperature of 25°C (77°F); fluctuations allowed to 15-30°C (59-86°F). Keep it away from children.

Overdose

Immediately search for medical help if you suspect an overdose. The symptoms of an overdose of Levitra are not known but may include chest pain, back pain, dizziness, an irregular heartbeat, abnormal vision, and swelling of the ankles or legs

More Information

You should not use Levitra in case you:
- Take any medicines known as "nitrates" which are used to relieve chest pain associated with heart diseases). Combined usage of Levitra and nitrates may have serious adverse effects.
- Take alpha-blockers are prescribed for prostate problems or high blood pressure. Their combined usage may cause your blood pressure to drop to an unsafe level.
- Your doctor determines that sexual activities is dangerous for your health.
- Have an allergy or sensitivity to any of the ingredients of Levitra.
Levitra cannot protect you against sexually transmitted disease. Counseling of patients about the measure necessary for protection against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, is recommended.
