Imitrex is a medicine indicated for treatment of migraine headaches.

How Drug Works
Imitrex works directly on the blood vessel and the nerves that are the reason for the migraine headaches.

How Taken
You should take a dose of the medicine when you experience the symptoms of migraine. You may take two doses if necessary and if you are directed to do so by your doctor but you should not exceed 200 mg of the medicine per day.

Possible Side Effects
The usage of Imitrex may cause some adverse effects, including dizziness, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness

Warnings/Precautions
Do not use Imitrex if you have an allergy to Imitrex, Raynaud syndrome, strokes in the past, certain types of heart disease, transient ischemic attacks, uncontrolled blood pressure, and peripheral vascular disease. Consult your doctor before taking Imitrex in case you are smoking, you have high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes.

Overdose
Immediately search for medical help if you suspect an overdose.

Drug Interactions
Before you start using Imitrex you should inform your doctor about all other medicines you are using, and especially other headache medicine, ergotamine or MAO inhibitors like linezolid, furazolidone, tranylcypromine, phenelzine, selegiline.

Missed Dose
It is unlikely to miss a dose because Imitrex is not taken regularly. The medicine should be used only when you have migraine symptoms.

Storage
Imitrex should be stored at a normal temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep the medicine in its original container and away from children.

Pregnancy/Nursing
Consult your doctor before using Imitrex in case you are pregnant.
