Drug Uses

Flextra DS is an analgesic and antipyretic that is used for treatment of pain, headache and fever. The medicine may also be used to relieve pain cause by some arthritic conditions. Flextra DS may be used for the treatment of other conditions.

How Taken

Flextra DS should be taken orally and the common dosage is a tablet every 4 hours. The dosage depends on the age, medical condition and response to the therapy. You should not exceed the recommended dosage and you should not take the medicine longer than recommended (10 days for adults, 5 days for children and 3 days if used to treat for fever). If your symptoms persist this may indicate a more serious condition. Talk to your doctor for additional information.

Warnings/Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have medical history of lung problems (e.g., bronchitis, emphysema), glaucoma, enlarged prostate or any allergies. Flextra DS may cause dizziness or drowsiness and you should be cautious when participating in activities that require alertness such as driving or operating machinery. You should limit the consummation of alcohol. Flextra DS may cause liver damage. Combined usage of Flextra DS and alcohol enhances the risk of liver damage indicate by nausea, stomach pain, dark urine. Flextra DS should be given to children with cautious because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. Inform your doctor in case you are pregnant. Also, consult your doctor if you are breast feeding because it is not clear if Flextra DS passes into breast milk.

Missed Dose

In case you miss a dose, take the missed tablet as soon as you remember. However, if it is already time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and take the regular dose. Do not take a double dose to catch up the missed one.

Possible Side Effects

Flextra DS may cause drowsiness or nausea. Notify your doctor if these side effects continue or worsen. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of these rare but serious adverse effects: skin redness, swelling, persistent fever, stomach pain, yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual weakness. You may also experience other side effects that are not mentioned in this leaflet. Consult your doctor if you experience some other side effects.

Storage

Flextra DS should be stored at a room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Keep it away from light and moisture.

Overdose

In case of an overdose, immediately search for medical help. An overdose of Flextra DS may be indicated by difficulty breathing, extreme nervousness or restlessness, flushed skin, hallucination, racing or irregular heartbeat, seizure, shortness of breath, tiredness (extreme), unstable temperature, unusual muscle stiffness, vomiting (in combination with these other symptoms).

More Information

Avoid driving, operating machinery or performing other dangerous activities until you know how the medicine affects you. The usage of the medicine alone or in combination with other medicines or alcohol may reduce your ability to drive or to perform other dangerous activities. Do not take more acetaminophen for pain or fever without a consultation with your doctor. Talk to your pharmacist if you don’t know which medicines contain acetaminophen. Consult your doctor if it is appropriate to use Flextra DS or you should use another pain and fever medicine in case you consume 3 or more alcoholic drinks per day. Flextra DS may cause liver damage. Combine usage of the medicine and alcohol enhances the risk of liver damage.
